Maybe not one of the best known features on the Palm Pre is the ability to test your device with automated tests carried out by webOS. These tests are a great diagnostics tool giving you a clear idea if there is anything wrong with your device. It can also be very useful if you have any kind of dispute with the mobile phone company in case of a faulty unit. The tests are meant to help Palm or the phone company as much as you with an easy method of diagnosing a fault remotely.
There a number of different tests this post will deal with the simple “Quick Tests” a set of 4 automated tests.
To get access to the tests menu , you need to:
1. Select “device info” from the Launcher
2. Scroll right to the bottom of the device info screen and select “More Info”
3. Select “Prefernces” from the top left hand corner of the screen
4. Select “Quick Tests”
If you want to test your Wi-fi connection you will have to turn it on, tap top right hand corner of screen and turn it on there.
The tests will take a few minutes and will present you with some results, all this is a quick easy way of testing your Pre if you think there is something wrong with memory, Wi-Fi etc. The other kind of tests are “Interactive Tests” more on these at a later date. The sceenshots below will give you some idea of where to find the options.
